Tributes to Miss Elisabeth

Annie asked the question: What was your favorite Miss Elisabeth moment. Here are your answers….

Hi again! Sorry about the horribly late response(s), but I’ve been incredibly busy lately! I figured I’d give you my response to both of your questions:
To be honest, though Elizabeth’s death saddened me, she was a little bit before my time as a fan. However, it just so happens that I have one very vivid memory of her, a memory I received about a month before her death, courtesy of my local Blockbuster Video and a tape of WrestleMania VI. Around the beginning to the middle of the show, an interview was done with her regarding her status with the WWF, and why fans hadn’t seen her lately. She responded that she had been working mostly as an advisor, and since her split with the self-proclaimed “Macho King” Randy Savage, she wasn’t at ringside much anymore. She went on to say that she wasn’t sure when she would become a valet again. Immediately afterwards, an interview was done with Dusty Rhodes and his manager Saphire, who would fight Savage and Queen Sherri in a mixed tag that night. Dusty, after reinforcing his common man status, claimed that the King and Queen were missing the most important aspect of royalty…the crown Jewel!(?) Confusing though that was, it was soon explained. After all four combatants had reached the ring, Dusty introduced his “crown jewel”, the first lady of the WWF, Miss Elizabeth! In what was, I thought, an excellent match, the king and queen of heels came up short. Elizabeth herself grabbed Sherri and threw her into Saphire, who rolled her up for the victory. Afterwards, Liz danced in the ring with Rhodes and Saphire, as the king and queen pouted their way to the back. In my mind, that was a true Wrestlemania moment.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MISS ELISABETH MOMENT?

Although these kind of storylines don’t fly anymore, but I remember a Saturday Night Main Event, where Savage was being pummeled in the ring, and Elizabeth went to go get Hogan out of the back. They forned a friendship that resulted in the Mega Powers tag team. Only to be broken up with Miss Elizabeth being the reason, as Savage was jealous of how Hogan and Elizabeth got along.

This answer cracked me up. It shouldn’t have but it did. Good one Vicky

When she left.
I know everyone talks about how sweet & nice & blah blah blah she was. I always thought of it as boring & whiny. Never was a fan. As a woman with a backbone, she pretty much pissed me off every time I saw her. And now it turns out she was just another junkie. Oh well, buh bye hun. Just think, in the afterlife, u can do all the drugs u want & not OD!!!!

My favorite moment was her wedding ceremony with Randy Savage. Unlike most things in wrestling, the love between the two was real. Miss Elizabeth was a real lady, who didn’t need to show her body off. She was beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. I will miss her, and I know anyone who ever saw her will also.

Aloha Annie, It’s TT,

ie, Jeff, remember me? It has indeed been a looooong time.
I read your column, and a lot of times I don’t have time, so they usually
disappear without my chance of reading. But I read this one, especially when
I saw “(remembering)”. I’m such a nastalgic guy….
I really haven’t followed wrestling at all as of late, but I will say
that I love the memories I have of Miss Elizabeth. And everything you said,
her class, her kindness, and her choice of dresses. They were all
outstanding. Miss Elizabeth did indeed outclass the women of the WWF or WWE
more currently, and she will indeed be missed. Thank you for keeping me
abreast on current wrestling events,
I hope you are fairing very well, I wish you all the best, and join you in
your condolenses toward a woman with more style and more ladyness than any
of the females in wrestling entertainment today.

Respectfully,
TT

Anyway in this week’s column, you ask what everybody’s favorite moment of Miss Elizabeth is. I would have to say it would be the time that she got Hogan and Macho to team up as the Superpowers. I also vividly remember (and I don’t remember if this was about the same time, but I seem to think it was) Macho lifting Elizabeth on his shoulders while she was crying. I think this was mentioned on Confidential perhaps by Vince (we were having storms Saturday night so I didn’t get to see much of Confidential). I will agree that she was a trually classy lady in the ring.
