Annie’s No View

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Due to the tragedy that fell over wrestling this past Monday night, Annie’s View won’t be written this week as I am simply at a loss right now.

I’m sure all of my Viewers will understand and are going through the same thing. I think it’s safe to say that we all are just sick about what happened.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Benoit family, his two children that he left behind, any other family, friends and of course the wrestlers who knew him well.

Instead, Charity has written a column and I’d like to post it instead of mine. I hope you enjoy it and Annie’s View will return next week.

Is This What It Takes?
June 28th, 2007
In light of the tragedy that has befallen the wrestling world this week, I have to ask, is this what it takes?

Is this what it takes to make these wrestlers see what steroids do? Does it take several deaths from heart problems caused by steroids? Obviously not because we still have guys taking them. But how about a fellow wrestler and great friend going crazy and killing his family? Does THAT make them think twice? It should. Even if they find that steroids were not a factor in this particular case, it should be noted that steroids CAN cause the type of paranoia and explosive rages that would lead to something like this.

So, is Vince going to do something about this? Is he going to start making it mandatory that the wrestlers NOT be doing steroids and that anyone found doing them will be suspended or fired? Is he going to start making damn sure that none of his wrestlers will ever have this problem again? He’d better. Because frankly, I don’t think the wrestling world can withstand another blow like this one. Not only to find out that one of the most beloved wrestlers and his family were dead, but to find out just hours later that it was at that wrestler’s own hand.

It’s a sad week indeed for wrestling. A sad week indeed.
