Annie’s View (Aug 25th)

Friday, August 25th, 2006

Hello Viewers,

Welcome back to another View. Well this is late but mostly because I was out of town until Sunday morning. I went to Vegas baby and you know what they say, What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. But you know, your my loyal Viewers so I’ll share. MY SON GOT MARRIED. Yep, that’s why I went.

The wedding was really nice and a good time was had by all. We spent a few nights and a lot of money but we had the time of our lives. It was a nice simple wedding which are usually so pretty. The bride looked great and my Son was just so handsome but you know, I’m his Mom so of course I thought that. However, fear not loyal Viewers because I did see RAW and ECW and here is MY View.

DX

I laughed until I just about cried. I will give Vince kudo’s when I see the need and his breakdown for lack of a better word was great. I just thought the entire DX stunts were hilarious. The plane was good, the building better, but, when the car lost both back tires and Vince started to ‘cry’ I just about fell out of my chair laughing hilariously.

Throughout the show this was just too funny. I kept waiting to see what would be next and you know what? I wasn’t disappointed in the least.

JEFF HARDY RETURNS.

Well, you knew he was coming and you knew it was soon and then the music hit and there he was. It was great. I loved seeing him again in the WWE ring. I hope that he stays this time because he really is quite the wrestler. I’m still hoping that the Hardy Boys return as a tag team although it looks as if tag teams are pretty much a thing of the past and…..

WHY?

I’d really like to know why it seems that two people start out as tag team parrnters but then it’s torn apart? Tag team matches are not only great to watch but I think they’re something that’s just a part of wrestling as a whole.

I really do miss the Rockers, The Hart foundation, MNM, and all the others. What used to be a staple in wrestling now seems to be a thing of the past. Oh sure, you can say well, MNM just split because one is no longer there but still, we have the five that are the Spirit Squad and word is they’re going to be breaking up soon if they didn’t already at the PPV (which I missed)

It just seems so sad to me that tag teams are short lived anymore. Perhaps I’m the only one thats missing them. So, this weeks’ Question of the Week is What do you think about Tag Teams? Tell me if you love them, hate them or miss them???

THE NEW DIVA

Well, this makes me right three times. I picked the first two Diva search winners and I have picked the third one as well. Some people like Layla and some don’t but I just thought she had the entire package and, she was the one that just stood out more than anyone else did. Congratulations Layla. I hope you have a great time as a Diva.

SPEAKING OF NEW DIVAS.

Word is that three more Diva’s or should I say wanna be divas actually DID make the Diva roster after all? Yep, Maryse Ouellet, Milena Roucka and Amy Zidian have all signed a contract and are off to train. Gee, raise your keyboard if this comes as a shock? I know, so why do we even vote??

KURT ANGLE RELEASED

Due to personal issues Angle has left the WWE at least for now. I always loved Kurt and thought he was one of the most talented wrestlers in the WWE. I wish him nothing but happiness and perhaps one day, we’ll see him back in the ring. He will truly be missed as he WAS a real wrestler.

TALK ABOUT AN ANGLE

How many thought Foley would join the Vince McMahon Kiss my A$$ club? Yeah, I wondered but the real shocker came with Melina actually screwing over Foley. I didnt see that coming and I should have as a wrestler fan. Then again, sometimes it’s good NOT to see something coming because then the show lacks well, something.

Foley sold it with that look of surprise and shock on his face too. I actually felt kind of sorry for him. Wouldn’t you? I mean, I don’t think there is enough mouthwash in a market for me to actually do this. Then again, perhaps if it were someone that I truly respected that I thought would be fired if I didn’t, perhaps I’d have done it too. Shame on Vince and shame on Melena but I do hope that Foley comes back and nails both.

THE LAST ON FRANCINE.

So what’s the beef with her that Vince pulled her from the ECW show? Did she do something wrong? You know, I was hoping that since Vince now owns ECW, that we, the people in the states that really never got to see an ECW show would. However, I think that Vince just likes pulling the plug on something that might be just a hair better than his shows. ECW fits that build.

Oh sure, a lot of people don’t like ECW but then again, a lot of people just don’t like Vince either.

Heyman is truly a brain and if given the actual clearance to write the stories I’ve no doubt that ECW would run a close second to WWE’s RAW. If for nothing else, than Paul Heyman can write and well, Stephanie is just not as good.

I was hoping to see this brand of extreme but I can see now that the only way to see it will be to actually buy the DVD’s BEFORE Vince took over.

I had several of my Viewers comment on Hogan of all people. Here are some of your Views:

Max wrote this about Hogan:
Well – let’s start by saying that he’s a real legend, and his showmanship more than helped to put wrestling on the mainstream map. However, everyone knows he’s not what he used to be (who, of us are?) and that he’s had joint replacement surgery over the years. Nonetheless, he, unlike a Rick Flair, still looks physically like he did in his prime, minus a bit of hair on top. (Flair, for those who don’t remember, was also muscle-bound in his prime). Hogan’s always had only one major finishing move, and his end-of-match scripts were always basically the same, so he can go on performing as he did in his prime as long as he looks good. BUT, as certain legends, such as Bruno Sammartino, knew, there is a time to get out, and it’s a time when your reputation and legacy both remain intact. Vince McMahon has a tendency to ruin such legacies to soothe his own ego, such as the laughing stock he made out of the Road Warriors, the Red Rooster (Terry Taylor), Dusty Rhodes in polka dots, Pat Patterson and Jerry Brisco becoming comedic lackeys, etc. This fate could befall Hogan, if he’s not careful. So – Hogan’s return accomplishes nothing. His reputation is intact, but if he comes back, one of two things happen – the first is that his legacy gets destroyed, and the second is that if he wins, he may be holding back the progress of a new star. Either way is bad, so let him stay retired.

The Sarg wrote this:
I haven’t watched wrestling in about a year and then I only watched one episode…last year something in April I think Monday night it was HHH and Batista just became champ I believe…but anyway if there is something about Hogan possibly returning…I think he should…I mean look at it this way…He has done more in terms of fan relations and crossover appeal then any other wrestler as far as I am concerned…Now was he the best wrestler…?!…No…the best actor?!…No…the best entertainer…one of the best Yea…and that is why I believe there should always be a place for him and a return…I mean face it…people love Hogan…

Tammy wrote this: think Hogan is too old to be wrestling. I like him, but I think Vince is showing desperation by trying to bring back all the old outdated stuff that made wrestling popular 10 years ago. Hogan needs to stick with Hogan knows best and enjoy his retirement.

And of course, Steve RARELY if ever lets me down and here’s his answer :
More than likely Hogan will win. Because he wouldn’t make a comeback just to job. But, this does not make me happy. Who do I want to win…Orton. Not that I am an Orton fan, but it could be one of the midgets, like Mysterio, wrestling Hogan and I would be rooting for the midget, and I hate Mysterio. Retire already Hogan (for good), and leave your legacy alone.

Dan wrote this and it cracked me up plus, it brings up a valid point so here it is: anyway if Orton is the legend killer and he kills al the legends thus making himself a legend does that mean he’ll commit suicide?

So there you have it. Another View, some of your Views and a Question of the Week. So please tell me what you think of the tag teams or lack of them?

Until next time, be good or be like me, really good doin it.
