Annie’s View (March 23rd)
Thursday, March 23rd, 2006Hello Viewers,
How are you doing? Well, I have just gotten back from a mini vacation. I went to the beach and was greeted by rain, rain and more rain. But you know, your always happy at the beach even in the rain. I had a blast but it’s always good to be home.
Well, now it’s raining at home as well. So, I guess whoever sang that song in the 70s about it never raining in California didn’t know what they were talking about.
But I digress. I’ll plug stuff at the end of my View this time rather than right now. How’s that?
Well, last week’s Question of the Week (okay, two weeks ago) I asked the question, Who should Induct Bret Hart into the Hall of Fame? Of course my View was read by Vince and he decided to screw my Question of the Week up by answering it himself and letting us all know that he, in fact, chose Stone Cold Steve Austin.
I am somewhat delighted with this as I remember reading that Steve Austin said most of his best matches were in fact, with Bret. So of course Vince choosing someone that thinks that much of Bret was a nice thing for Vince to do. (See, I can say something nice about Vince.)
Now I did receive a few answers to my QOTW before Vince gave it away. Here they are:
Bruce wrote this:
Annie, This is how bad I am…I’d like to see HBK induct him. Wouldn’t that spark oneheluva storyline?
Steve wrote this which I thought was wonderful:
Ideally I think it should be Owen, Davey Boy or Brian Pillman, but, unfortunately that cannot happen. In fact two of the three should be getting inducted as well. But, realistically one of the participants from the Montreal screw job should do it. But, HBK won’t because he honestly does not like Bret, Vince won’t do it, because that would be disrespectful to the other inductees. Which leaves the referee, Earl or Dave Hebner, can’t remember which one it was. But, since he is no longer with the company, that can’t happen either. So, that leaves either a fellow wrestler who respects Bret for what he has done for the business, a family member or an outsider. Who will it be? I honestly do not know. So, I think it should be Stone Cold Steve Austin. In his book he praised Bret, and I feel he would be an ideal spokesperson for the induction. Will that happen? Probably not, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
And a few others also said HBK.
So I was thinking… I have to agree with Steve here that of course, without a doubt it should be someone from the Hart Foundation either Anvil or someone else. However, since most of the Hart Foundation is dead, there goes that theory.
As for it being someone that was in on the screw job, that would be wonderful. Now, Shawn won’t do it and Steve’s right he has no respect for Bret so, for Shawn to do it, would be a joke to Bret’s fans and, a slap in the face to Bret Hart who, if this would happen, should give HBK some sweet chin music and send him flying off the stage. Sorry, I went on a little daydream there. Ahem…
Earl’s been fired for stealing something that still makes me laugh hard and loud. And Vince, well, I just don’t think Vince would do this for Bret due to all the animosity that they’ve given each other.
Another good choice just because it would have killed both HBK AND Hunter would have been, Hunter. Hunter doesn’t like Bret either and for someone that cannot stand you to have to stand there and give you an award of this magnatude would just about kill them where they are standing.
And of course, my good friend Fish mentioned that he thought Benoit would be a great choice. However, Benoit is inducting or helping induct Eddy who wouldn’t be here if he hadn’t died. Such a tragedy in wrestling.
I would have LOVED to have seen Shawn have to give Bret the award simply because he can’t stand him and you already have read the reasons why I think that would be sweet.
But in my View, if none of these scenarios can take place and, they can’t, then Steve Austin is a great choice!!
Besides, I think Austin was a wonderful wrestler and a great friend to Bret. So this is a win win situation.
Mean Gene is another good choice. Without a doubt he’s my favorite of all the men that interviewed the wrestlers. He’d actually stick up for himself when the wrestlers would try to push him around. Unlike the ones today that whimper when they’re given a dirty look or are yelled at by a wrestler. No, Mean Gene is without a doubt in this Viewers mind, the best because he never backed down, always spoke up and basically, handled himself very well. The rest should aspire to be like him.
What about Sheri? I still can hear her voice singing HBK’s theme song. I can still see her wrestling with all the other females and hating Miss Elisabeth.
Sherri was in a class by herself and, still is. She’s one of the most outspoken and great female talents ever to lace up a pair of boots. She gave as good as she got and sometimes she gave even better. I think it’s wonderful that she’s going into the Hall of Fame this year.
And, I did mention Eddy but not enough. Eddy was a fine wrestler. Sure, not my favorite but that’s mostly becuase I hated the whole lie, cheat and steal thing. I just didn’t think that made Hispanics look good and for the children that are hispanic and who are watching this show, I just thought it set a bad example.
But his wrestling, ahh, thats something all wrestlers hope to be and some won’t even come close.
No, Bret and Eddy are the two that I know of so far that are being inducted into the Hall of Fame that the wrestlers that are NOW in that ring should try to wrestle like these two fine gentlemen.
That leaves Vern Gage. Now I really can’t comment on him as I wasn’t watching wrestling then. But, I have seen some matches and I’m telling you theres a man that could wrestle ANYONE. He too deserves the Hall of Fame.
This week, the Blackjacks were anounced that they to were going to be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.
They were an awesome tag team and a forced to be reckoned with too. You didn’t tick off either man or, you were extremely sorry.
And of course none other than Bobby the Brain Heenan will be there to induct them. As their manager, I don’t see anything else more fitting do you?
Annie’s Question of the Week Your in luck, I am doing something a bit different this week. Remember, I said I was going to do some different things this year. Well here’s one of them.
With Wrestlemania fast approaching, I was wondering what is your favorite match at ANY WM. So, send me your favorite match in WM history. Only one please and, No, it doesn’t have to include Bret Hart to get in. But, I am only going to be able to use three, four at the most as I can’t push my Editors too far.
So there you go. Now I’m going to plug (remember, I said I’d do that at the end too)Well here we go. Annie’s View, I have a webpage and it’s being updated. Charity is doing something really awesome to the site and without giving it away, I’ll just say I don’t know of another site that has this so watch for it here.Annie’s View (dot) Net
