Annie’s View (Jan 19th)
Thursday, January 19th, 2006Hello Viewers and Happy New Year. Did I already mention that? I doubt it. But just in case I did, I’m saying it again.
How has the New Year been treating my Viewers? I hope great. Mine has started off really well (knock wood) and I hope that it continues for me, as well as all of you.
Last night hubby and I treated ourselves to a night at the movies. We saw Hostile and let me tell you, it’s not for the faint of heart. I loved it. I am weird that way but these are my kind of movies if done right. Also, caught a trailer for Kane’s new movie, See No Evil. Man, that just looks good too. Then again, my kind of movies.
How many of you have been catching RAW and Smack Down? Now, I can believe that Cena lost the belt. It really was time and Yes, I’m still a huge Cena fan. That being said, I think it was time for him to lose it and now, try to win it back…..
BUT LOSE IT TO EDGE!!!! Give me a break. Edge is probably one of the few Canadian wrestlers that I really don’t like. Oh sure, he’s good in the ring and all, but I just think he could have lost it to someone else. And the booing! From what I have heard/read people are booing Mr. Cena. How can they? LOL. I actually love that guy.
I will say this much though, it was about time that Edge cash in that briefcase and he was smart enough to wait until Cena was exhausted. Otherwise, he’d have had to actually wrestle.
How many of you watched the PPV? What did you think of it? I didn’t get it so I missed Lawler’s match. I’m sure he was awesome in it though as he pounded the once Hurricane down to just a breeze.
So, Stacy Keibler is a favorite in the Dancing contest. Well, there’s a shock. Lets see, the girl was a dancer, cheerleader and ballerina Yes? So it’s a shock that she’s the favorite right? I think she’ll take it myself because look at who she’s up against.
Speaking of women in the ring. What is with the chick stalking Trish? Shouldn’t it be a trying to kiss Trish under the mistletoe? As the Hurricane err Greg Helms would say. whatsupwithdat?
HHH a Dad!! Congratulations to the happy couple. My question is, which one is gonna stay home with that baby? LOL. Probably some nanny huh? Hey, I used to be a nanny. Perhaps I can get the gig! I’ll bet Chyna is vomiting even as we speak.
How many of you saw Edge and Lita having sex on RAW? Good thing that the show has that title huh? I think they could rename the show Rank. What do you think? My View is this was done in bad taste but of course I want to hear from you. At one point we were blacked out. I guess this was when Lita’s breast was actually shown. Thank you Flair for the interruption.
Speaking of Flair, I was actually rooting for him in the ring because I’m not a huge fan of HBK as most people know. I think this game that Vince has going on with HBK is something though. I like it and I can’t wait to see where it’s taking us. Boy, that’d be great if the Hitman showed up and put HBK in the sharpshooter. No, actually, what I think would be great since HBK put the Sharpshooter on Bret at Survivor Series, I think it would be in Excellent (pardon the pun) taste for the Hitman to come out and just give Shawn some of his Sweet chin music. But you know, that would make MY day.
I actually got to see Smack Down last week and I felt so bad for Dave Batista (and all of his fans myself included) that he had to give up the title due to an injury. I hope he takes his time to mend himself and comes back full force to kick whoever’s butt he has to so that he can have his belt back.
Now, I have another question. What WAS that thing on the girls face that the Bogeyman ate off? That was really gross. At least for me and I watch movies with blood and guts spewing out of every pore. Yet, this made me turn my head. Was it gross or is it just me? Send me some Views PLEASE!!!!!
While I’m still on Smack Down. What a phenomenal match between Benoit and Orton. Of course, I’m a huge Benoit fan and while he lost, that was without a doubt one of the best matches I have EVER seen on Smack Down. That being said, Booker T wins how???
Vince gets a taste of his own medicine when a fan of TNAs went over to the WM22 fan Axxes and, was allowed as all fans were to shoot something for the Characters Welcome. After starting out with the WWE belt over his shoulder the fan began yelling about TNA and how wonderful it is. Which, by the way, it really is a great show. Even though JJ has the belt. However, I think the kids bold to say something that I can actually type here. Vince needs to sit down and really watch what wrestling shows are about. It’s no longer the WWE anymore. Nope. It’s TNA. Which brings me to a little rant from Charity and of course, my Question of the Week. First I give you Charity’s rant which goes like this….
The “TNA Management” wants the belt off Jarrett…Jarrett keeps saying that TNA Management wants the belt off Jarrett. Raven wanted a title shot against Jarrett…. but yet a Championship Committee member gets bent out of shape and wants Raven gone. Now here’s my question … it’s a COMMITTEE…so why is ONE person making the decision that Raven can’t have a title shot, and why is ONE person being allowed to try to fire Raven…what right does a Championship Committee member have to make decisions regarding who should or should not be wrestling for TNA??
Also, there were comments made by the commentators that Raven’s foot had been on the ropes. And quite frankly, if Larry Zbysko helped Sean Waltman win the match, then in my view, that means that Sean Waltman didn’t win the match. So where does this leave all of us Raven fans? If the rest of them are anything like me, they’re hoping there’s more to this angle than meets the eye.
So there you go. Another View filled with Questions I would love answered by you, the Viewers. Please keep your comments coming as I so love them. I am sorry that this was filled with comments from a couple of weeks ago. But I just couldn’t hold my tongue any longer. Some things needed to be said.
One of my Questions of the Week before was (and yes, This was a long time ago) But the question was how could the Iraq show have been better? I took two replys to this question and I apologize for not getting them out sooner. Here they are:
From Kerns who wrote:
First of all, love your column & happy holidays. I’m almost 50 (argh) & have been watching “rasslin” since I was knee-high. My mom is 89 & is still the biggest fan I know. Raw in Iraq!? The only thing that could have made it better for me is if I could have been there in person, enjoying the show & showing love to our troops! And the part I always enjoy the most is not the matches (which are always entertaining), but all the behind-the-scenes footage of the wrestlers visiting the hospitals, shooting the guns, having fun with the troops, etc. It really makes you pause & brings home the fact that yes, they may be a heel or a face, maybe you can’t stand their characters, but it’s a persona & not the real person. The backstage footage really humanizes the whole thing & when you see the honest affection & love coming from all the WWE talent, it’s really heart-warming. The one that sticks out in my mind is Triple H visiting the soldier in the hospital. The kid was pretty banged up & Triple H took his hand so gently to shake it & talk to him. I love all the guys & girls in the WWE & really appreciate what they do & how they sacrifice their bodies night after night for the fan’s entertainment. Oh yes, and another thing that could have made it all even better, if Eddie Guerrero had been there entertaining the troops as he loved to do. I sure miss him!
Steve was honest, as he wrote this :
Sorry, can’t answer that one, because, I didn’t watch most of it. The last I saw was Good Santa Foley Vs. Bad Santa JBL. Which was boring, and predictable due to the situation at hand. Sorry.
A couple of you answered my Who’s your favorite wrestler question and here they are
Dwichlidal writes me and answers my question this way.
Hello Miss Ayn,
First off I really enjoy your columns on pro wrelting daily. keep up the great work. I am kinda new to your columns but I like what I have read. I am 34 years old been a wrestling fan here in minnesota for as long as I can remeber, The first match I can remember watching was the crusher vs. maddog voshon.
Anyway, I was a really big fan of the 70′s and 80′s wcw/nwa wreslting. mainly because of the “gimmick era” wwe/wwf was in. I found wcw the purest form of wrestling, and still watch old tapes of the original four horseman. and others from that era.
But to answer your question. It really hard to find a favorite wrestler. As of today The undertaker has to be mine he has been the closet of todays wrestlers to be as close to what kind of wrestling I watch in the 80′s and 90′s. And as for the 90′s That would have to be Taker of course but to take a wrestler from each era that would be sting. the 80′s The horseman as a group. And a close second would be the “freebiirds” I thought Michael p.s. hayes was the man.
My final thought, I sure miss the old smaller promotions on tv like georgia championchip wrestling, world class championchip wrestling. Wreslting is not what it once was. I wish I could turn back time to see the Wreslting I fell in love with. I would like to say one last thing. i remeber seeing Jeff Jarrett for the first time in world class, i even knew back then he was something special. I am not a fan of his as in just watching wrestling But I suppose I am not suppose too. But I am glad to see what a big name he is.
thank you for letting me ramble. I could talk wrestling all day. Which i do, but don’t have a lot of friends that like it or like it anymore. I really love to talk about the 70 and 80′s.

1. Charity Said:
Matt Hardy – awesomely talented
Jeff Hardy – again, awesomely talented, plus he’s a freak like me.
Paul Heyman – cuz he’s brilliant!
Vicky wrote this and I may have to agree with her :
Undertaker, baybee! Good guy or bad, I’ve been all about him since the 1st day he stepped into the WWF. Yes, I said WWF. At 1st it was just his whole look and persona. Giant guy, moved like a cat. Not to mention the whole Prince of Darkness thing. And tho he is not a pretty man, was just insanely attractive to me. Over the years I have also come to admire how hard he works, and how loyal he is. Never saw him on Nitro when Turner was flashing his cash around. Even now, when he’s getting broke down, and spending more time with his family than wrestling (which shows a different kind of loyalty), so that I hardly get to see him, he is still my fave.
My favorite answer comes from someone that’s been reading my column (or is that Viewing) since it’s conception. That’s Steve who wrote this:
Tough question. There is no stand out as everything has been blurred by the water running out of my eyes during the numerous yawns during the telecasts. So, I will have to go old school on your candy asses, no, I am not referring to The Rock, but none other than “The best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be, Bret “The Hitman” Hart, sans the WCW days. I have many fond memories of watching matches in my younger years and enjoying them immensely. I would want the 80′s and early 90′s to come back, but first would have to assassinate Hogan, Warrior, Tugboat, the Honky Tonk Man, Earthquake, El Gigante (can’t even remember his WWF name), and a slew of other worthless pieces of fluff. I would also have to shove that megaphone up Jimmy Heart’s Ass of the South. Then it might be watchable again, even though it was way more predictable back then.
Okay this week’s Question of the Week is about TNA. It’s a two part question so here you go.
1. What do you think of TNA wrestling?
2. What do you think about the fiering of Raven? Do you think it’s a gimmick and, should one person be able to fire someone if there is a committee?
That’s it for another View. Please Visit my website atAnnie’s View (dot) Net and Until next time, be good or be like me, really good doing it.
