Annie’s View (Dec 20th)

Tuesday, December 20th, 2005

Merry Christmas Viewers,
This is going to be the last Annie’s View at least until after the Christmas holiday. I thought first off this time, I would thank each and every one of you for reading, Viewing and responding to Annie’s View throughout the year. Words can’t express how much your answers mean to me from the Question of the Week especially the ones that disagree!!!

I wish you all nothing but the best all year long but especially at this time.

Also, I want to thank all of my Editors for posting my View (and yours) all year long. Without people like Kelly, Karen Dave and everyone else, there wouldn’t be a home for my View to well, be viewed. So thank you all.

Last but never least, to my good friend, Charity, who has made my website one website for wrestling where you can see my Views and of course, all the tributes to those wrestlers who we are without. Charity tries all year long to give you a site worth seeing and she has. She has also asked me if she could do something a little different to my page when she finally gets settled back home in Iowa and after what she told me it would be, how could I say No? So, watch for an update on Annie’s View. I think you’ll enjoy whats coming.

WRESTLING IN IRAQ

How many of you enjoyed this show? I know I did. I come from a family of men who have served in the Armed Forces and I married one as well, so I’m especially fond of the WWE paying tribute to our men and women serving over there so we can celebrate here in America.

Seeing how much the WWE is appreciated by the troops was so touching. Of course I cried. Not just because I’m a girl but because it really hit my heart in such a way. Hearing how they put their lives on the line each and everyday is one thing, but seeing how they live, the men laid up in the hospital beds was just so touching.

Vince said some things tonight that I had to agree with. I do support our troops and of course I wish they could all return safely, but sadly, some haven’t and more won’t. But they knew that going in and still went. To all the Men and Women out there serving, I THANK YOU for that and God Bless You All.

So, lets talk matches. It was pretty good show all in all.

Sign wize I think my favorite sign was Terriorism is not cool. Reading that I laughed and cried because it’s so true.

Now most of you know that I’m not a Ric Flair fan well, I like him but he’s not a favorite of mine. But tonight he was pretty good I thought. Seeing all the troops (Or some of them at least) pretending to walk his walk with him standing right there was hilarious. He seemed to enjoy their immatations of him.

Big Show just looked so in awe. Actually, they all did. But when a man as big as the Big Show seems to be so small, it’s really amazing.

Chris Masters was great. I loved the comment about the plane being small (or something along those lines) and yet, there was room for Master’s robe. HAHA Too funny.

While I’m sure it’s safe to say that the Diva’s were all freezing cold out there in those little skimpy outfits, It’s a pretty safe bet that they made all the men in the audience nice and warm.

As did Hunter, Cena, Masters for the young women when they wrestled. While I’m on the subject Hunter looked really GOOD tonight. I thought so anyway. His match with Michaels was great. They both did a good job too. That flip Hunter took when he landed in the dirt/sand, looked nasty but then again, so did all the falls that HBK took as well. A good match and worthy of our Men and Women in the armed forces. We need to see more matches like these.

It really was an awesome show and my hats off to Vince and all the WWE superstars and staff that made this show possible for our wonderful troops. I have a friend over there right now and I wish him and everyone else a safe trip home.

Last week’s Question of the Week was “WHO’S YOUR FAVORITE IN THE WWE? Here are some of the answers.

Hello Miss Ayn,

First off I really enjoy your columns on pro wrelting daily. keep up the great work. I am kinda new to your columns but I like what I have read. I am 34 years old been a wrestling fan here in minnesota for as long as I can remeber, The first match I can remember watching was the crusher vs. maddog voshon.

Anyway, I was a really big fan of the 70′s and 80′s wcw/nwa wreslting. mainly because of the “gimmick era” wwe/wwf was in. I found wcw the purest form of wrestling, and still watch old tapes of the original four horseman. and others from that era.

But to answer your question. It really hard to find a favorite wreslter. As of today The undertaker has to be mine he has been the closet of todays wrestlers to be as close to what kind of wreslting I watch in the 80′s and 90′s. And as for the 90′s That would have to be Taker of course but to take a wrestler from each era that would be sting. the 80′s The horseman as a group. And a close second would be the “freebiirds” I thought michael p.s. hayes was the man.

My final thought, I sure miss the old smaller promotions on tv like georgia championchip wrestling, world class championchip wrestling. Wreslting is not what it once was. I wish I could turn back time to see the wreslting I fell in love with. I would like to say one last thing. i remeber seeing Jeff Jarrett for the first time in world class, i even knew back then he was something special. I am not a fan of his as in just watching wrestling But I suppose I am not suppose too. But I am glad to see what a big name he is.

thank you for letting me ramble. I could talk wrestling all day. Which i do, but don’t have alot of friends that like it or like it anymore. I really love to talk about the 70 and 80′s.

Charity Said:
Matt Hardy – awesomely talented
Jeff Hardy – again, awesomely talented, plus he’s a freak like me.
Paul Heyman – cuz he’s brilliant!

Vicky wrote this and I may have to agree with her :

Undertaker, baybee! Good guy or bad, I’ve been all about him since the 1st day he stepped into the WWF. Yes, I said WWF. At 1st it was just his whole look and persona. Giant guy, moved like a cat. Not to mention the whole Prince of Darkness thing. And tho he is not a pretty man, was just insanely attractive to me. Over the years I have also come to admire how hard he works, and how loyal he is. Never saw him on Nitro when Turner was flashing his cash around. Even now, when he’s getting broke down, and spending more time with his family than wrestling (which shows a different kind of loyalty), so that I hardly get to see him, he is still my fave.

My favorite answer comes from someone that’s been reading my column (or is that Viewing) since it’s conception. That’ Steve who wrote this:

Tough question. There is no stand out as everything has been blurred by the water running out of my eyes during the numerous yawns during the telecasts. So, I will have to go old school on your candy asses, no, I am not referring to The Rock, but none other than “The best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be, Bret “The Hitman” Hart, sans the WCW days. I have many fond memories of watching matches in my younger years and enjoying them immensely. I would want the 80′s and early 90′s to come back, but first would have to assassinate Hogan, Warrior, Tugboat, the Honky Tonk Man, Earthquake, El Gigante (can’t even remember his WWF name), and a slew of other worthless pieces of fluff. I would also have to shove that megaphone up Jimmy Heart’s Ass of the South. Then it might be watchable again, even though it was way more predictable back then.

Of course I love everyone’s answers but you know from reading me, my favorite is the last one. Steve won that this column.

Next Week’s Question of the Week is :WHAT DID YOU THINK OF RAW IN IRAQ? COULD IT HAVE BEEN BETTER?

Thats it for another week. Again, I’d like to thank all of you for reading Annie’s View and please know that I love you for it. Merry Christmas to all of you and I really hope Santa brings you everything you want. Until next time, be good or be like me, really good doing it.
