Annie’s View (Nov 19th)

Saturday, November 19th, 2005

Hello Viewers,
It’s been a while and to be honest, I haven’t been in much of a writing mood. Things have been happening and I’m just not as happy as usual right now. So, the other night when I logged onto AOL just to see what has been going on while I have been away there it was. A letter from one of my editors, Karen, telling me that Eddy had died.

I was stunned because like everyone else, Eddy seemed to full of life and to hear he’d passed was just something so shocking to me that it took me aback. I immediately thought of a couple of people that knew him and well. One friend, Sonia, came to mind as she had just met him. Her hero she called Eddy.

Finally getting to meet your wrestling hero is something thats a fabulous moment in your life. I have had this experience so I was so jazzed when she told me that she was going to meet Eddy.

Eddy was one of the best superstars in the business and I’m sure there are a lot of people that agree with me right now. It’s true though. I still remember he and Chyna acting like a couple. For me, that was one of the funniest stories ever told in the WWE. The entire story was so incredibly funny.

Now I will admit I hated the whole we lie, we cheat, we steal mantra but only because Eddy just seemed better than that to me. He never really needed to cheat to win like the shirt said because Eddy was honestly so good at his craft that he really could just get into that ring and give 100% of himself and you walked away knowing that Eddy gave you his all. Not all the superstars can say that either. But for Eddy, it’s true.

Both the RAW and Smack Down roster gave speeches on Eddy and what they will remember the most about him. But all said he was a great worker and that he was a family man filled with religion. Sometimes you just don’t know that as so many people don’t show their love for God. But Eddy did.

They’re were a few stars that got to me while watching. Chris Benoit and Rey were the top two. They tried so hard to keep it together but you could see their pain. Even under the mask Rey Rey’s tears were obvious.

Of course Shane gave a wonderful speech on Eddy as did Stephanie. But the one that really got me was Vince. Of all people. I guess I wasn’t expecting him to choke up. Maybe because I think of all the people there he’s seen so many stars die. Owen, Holly, Hawk, Mr. Perfect just to name a few that you think nothing can get to Vince. Obviously Eddy did.

Then there was, of course, Batista. Seeing someone that large cry really gets to most people. It’s nice to know they can though.

Did you see the match with HHH and Benoit? I loved it. Now there was a match and Eddy would have been proud.

My heart gave way when Chavo actually wrestled. Of the entire roster I would have thought he’d have just wanted to grieve. But of course, he’s one classy guy and put on the best face and one of the best matches I have seen in a long time too. Eddy put the star in superstar and he’ll be sorely missed.

I know this is a short column, but I really am sad. My heart goes out to the family and of course to all of the WWE superstars that really loved, Eddy.

That’s it for now Viewers. No question of the Week But I’ll give you my new site address Annie’s View (dot) Net check it out and leave a message.
