Annie’s View (July 22nd)
Friday, July 22nd, 2005Hello Viewers,
Welcome back to another View. Please remember that while my name is on this View, I so love hearing all of YOUR Views as well so please, keep them coming. If I can, I’ll put some in upcoming Views for everyone to read.
Sorry that I haven’t had a column in a while but I have had really bad computer problems. Somehow I downloaded a virus from a Yahoo group that I’m in and it took almost a full week and $40 bucks to straighten out my computer.
So what are you all doing during these hot summer months to keep yourselves cool? As you all know, I am a gym rat and I lift weights every other day. Well, lately I have been hitting the Olympic sized pool instead and am headed there tomorrow.
Enough chat (although please write me with your Views) now onto wrestling.
THE ENTIRE UNDERTAKER/HASSEN STORY LINE.
What kind of garbage is this? Just when I think the WWE couldn’t stoop any lower they decide to go with a story line so disgusting that even UPN pulled the character. Good because I for one, am sick of this story line. I don’t know who those men were all dressed in black wearing masks and choking the life out of the Undertaker (who’s dead btw so how was this impressive)? And I really don’t care. Maybe it’s because all the men in my family were either enlisted men in one of the armed services or, it could just be because right now we’re in the middle of a war where some of our troops have died for this country. Either way, I don’t like the story line and I think to air this especially the night of the bombings in London was crude and tasteless. And before you jump on the computer and tell me that Smack Down was filmed before the bombings, I know this, but it really should have been pulled even if it meant putting something else together last minute. With all the footage Vince owns, you can’t tell me it couldn’t be done. But that’s my View so please give me yours.
MATT HARDY RETURNS AND THE WAR CONTINUES.
As a HUGE Matt Hardy fan, I think it was dumb for Vince to even let him go in the first place. However, did he? Let him go that is OR, has this been a work from the start with both Edge and Lita being a part of it? You can’t put anything past Vince. If there is a story line and money to be made from it, Vince will do it. If you don’t believe me then you didn’t read my first paragraph and Undertaker.
They say that Matt was headed to TNN and frankly that’s where most of his fans wanted him to go. How funny it is then, that Matt on his own website not only asked what his MFers wanted but that later he said we’d see a new side of him. One we hadn’t seen before.
Now, call me crazy but could that just have been a set up to throw us, the fans, off the track so that when seeing Matt there we’d cheer louder and even harder for him? Probably. But I have to admit I loved this and it was a swerve that I didn’t see headed this way.
While I loved Matt and Lita together I still wonder if they really aren’t still together. Whichever way this falls, I think Vince got us talking about it and frankly, that’s why we tune in and buy tickets for the venues at outrageous prices. If we didn’t, things would change.
HBK AND HOGAN
Well, it looks as if Shawn’s going to get his wish and have the match that he seems to think everyone wants to see. Which, wouldn’t be a bad match actually. I’m a huge fan of Hogan’s and I will always be. Although I missed the premiere of his new show, Hogan Knows Best. Anyone see it? I hear it was good and that it was the highest watched show on VH1 ever. Did anyone doubt that?
I think this match will be a good one but the question is, Who will win? A lot think Hogan will because of all that he’s done for wrestling. Yet, everyone knows that HBK is Vince’s favorite wrestler so you just don’t know. That match alone will probably be worth tuning in for though.
BOOKER T AND CHRISTIAN
Booker T and Christian are to face each other at this week’s PPV. My big question is how does Christian feel about becoming a mid-carder? Booker seems to just know he’s never going to get the 6 time championship belt but then again, you never know.
JBL
Since he actually beat up my good friend, Blue Meanie, he’s not as impressive as he once was and I think he might just be a bully. You know, like Brock Lesner. Actually, I would mind watching Lesner kick the crap out of JBL now come to think of it.
KIDMAN AND A FEW OTHERS HEAD FOR TNA
I say good for them. Kidman’s talent was being wasted in the WWE and so was Shannon Moore. I hope they both get contracts with TNA because they’re very good at what they did. When you saw them that is.
BATISTA AND BENOIT.
These are the two men in My View to watch Smack Down for. And even THEY shouldn’t be there. Batista and Benoit should be on a show that well, I think is actually worth watching. Smack Down in my View is becoming sadly, a joke. Although, I have to say Batista coming out tonight and beating Jones and JBL not to mention putting the Uncle Sam hat and vest on was too funny. Batista also looked better in both or is that just me?
The story lines are vulgar and/or stupid. It’s just not that good of a show anymore. No wonder UPN is trying to get rid of it. Wrestling used to be the best show to watch on any night it was on. Now, not so much. I used to have to no, make that need to tape it. Now, if I miss it, what am I missing? Not wrestling. Just a lot of girls in panties and bras, lots of talk and very little wrestling. Where IS that contract for TNA??? Vince needs to be shook and shook hard right down to the core. Maybe if he knew there was another place for us to tune in, the stories would get better and there would be more wrestling for those of us that like it. I’m a wrestling fan. PERIOD.
However, word is that Spike has FINALLY has signed a deal with TNA and I for one say, it’s about time.
So my Question(s) of the Week were: Should JBL be fined for what he did to the Blue Meanie? Here were some of your answers.
My good friend Bruce wrote: JBL should be fined and/or suspended. He’s always been a loose canon type. This is supposed to be entertainment.
A new viewer Mandingo wrote this:Answer #1: Hell yeah, JBL should be punished. It’s sports entertainment. If you have a problem with someone, confront them after WORK is done. Not sucker punch them and do a sneak attack.
My friend Rick writes: JBL should not be punished. The bottom line is that wrestlers from both sides of that situation knew there was some real, legitimate heat and decided to take part anyway.
ffejllessur1 wrote: heh…i think JBL should be one of the ones to get fired…he’s useless and annoying in my opinion…
The second Question of the Week was: Should Matt Hardy return? Since he has, I thought you’d still like to see what some of you wrote:
My friend, Bruce, wrote this: Matt would be better off joining Jeff Hardy in TNA-NWA.Talk about respect >>Jeff got a Titleshot only weeks after he got there.I’ve always concidered Matt the better of the two.Give up the Matt point 1 c**p and I think he’ll do great no matter where he is.
Mandingo wrote this about Hardy’s return:
Vince should take Matt Hardy back. He’s taken back worse talent over the years. Matt should return.
Rick’s answer for this question was:As far as Matt Hardy goes…..bring him back……THAT WOULD BE GOOD T.V. if they approached it creatively enough.
So there you go. I am hoping that the WWE take care of that stupid character, Hassen at the PPV. Perhaps Undertaker will bury him alive. Now THAT would be sweet.
Question of the Week WHICH SHOW IS YOUR FAVORITE, SMACK DOWN OR RAW? Looking forward to your answers.
That’s it for this week Viewers. Thanks for writing. And remember, be good or be like me, really good doing it.
