Annie’s View (Dec 8th)

Wednesday, December 8th, 2004

Hello ViewersWelcome to another View. Now I haven’t said this in a while but keep in mind this is YOUR View as well. And I may have to post something a Viewer wrote me last week because well, because he voiced his View.

Before I start I want to thank all of you that have actually either written or IM’d me over what’s been going on in my family lately. The prayers are appreciated and much needed right now. I wanted to make sure that I thanked each one of you and I thought this would be the best place right now.

Okay. First things first. Still nowhere to shill to websitewise however, I am going to shill the only newsletter worthy of all women. Kelly’s Amazon Wrestling View. You must all know how to receive this by now IF you haven’t already joined it. What? You don’t? Okay here you go amazon_wrestling_views-subscribe@topica.com Now hurry and sub because you’ll love everyone that writes for Kelly.

I’m going to jump around as I sometimes do because frankly, I’m not in a really good mood when it comes to wrestling right now. Why? Glad you asked.

I have been talking to a friend tonight, you may recall him as Bubba my running mate for the 2004 election. Anyway, he’s been telling me all about how wrestling was BEFORE Vince screwed it all up. He actually got to meet wrestlers, carry their bags, just talk to them. This was all before they well, couldn’t do it any longer. Oh sure, some do. I mean, I did meet Cena and Victoria and let’s not forget Bret Hart. But can you carry their bags? Did you? I mean, this was just great listening to this that it made me think that wrestling is NOTHING like it used to be.

You know, I could still hear Vince saying when he was interviewed that his Dad didn’t even want to sell him the business because he thought he wouldn’t make a go of it. Well, a go he’s made but I ask you, at what price?

The PPV’s are so expensive that many people can’t afford the front row anymore and if you can, it’s actually some house payments. Not that I begrudge Vince making money. I mean, that’s what American is all about. Opportunity.

But I’d love to see the old days when the matches were worth watching because they were built up over days, weeks, and even months. I still recall the time that Owen and Bret talked about how they were to ‘hate’ each other wherever they went and one day were found out by a stewardess I believe because she caught them actually talking. Ah, the days when wrestling was truly good. Not because Bret Hart was wrestling (although that makes it sweeter for me) but because that’s when matches left you sitting on the edge of your seat and then, when your guy won well the win and the belt were all that much sweeter.

Thanks for letting me Rant and Bubba, thanks for the walk down memory lane. If you would like to know what else Bubba has to say, then you can vote for us when we run again for President and Vice President. Here’s to 2008 right Bubba?

Now onto the wrestling of today. Yeah I know it’s tough but someone has to write about it.

The best thing about tonight’s RAW was Jericho was the GM. Which stands for Gorgeous Male when Jericho’s on the screen. But I digress.

That was pretty good. And I did bring up Vince earlier in my column so I’ll bring him up again when I say that I thought he was actually funny tonight making sure Hunter didn’t get the belt. Perhaps Hunter has already ticked off his father-in-law and this is one way to well, punish him.

So, we have to wait till Bischoff comes back to find out about Edge and Benoit? Give it to Benoit I say. He’s earned it. He deserves it more. He’s wrestled longer, he’s paid his dues and he’s better looking. There you go. My Views why the belt should be around Benoit’s waist.

Not that Edge is bad. Oh no. Quite the contrary. So, why do I want Benoit to have the belt? It’s easy really.

Remember the beginning of my View tonight? You know, the part about the storylines not being as great as they once were? Well, I think that they could make a really classic feud out of this. I mean, give it to Benoit and let Edge just get angrier and angrier and build up to where they finally have the match and of course after a few loses to Benoit, Edge claims victory AND the belt. No? Then you give me a storyline because I really would love your View.

So tonight Lita finally won over Trish. Well, I say it’s about time. You see, I don’t know about the rest of you Viewers but I have been very DIStratisfied now for many weeks. So needless to say I screamed really loud tonight when Lita won. First of all, she’s hubby’s favorite so you gotta love that well, I do. But Trish and her nasty attitude has been taken down a peg or two.

One thing about last week’s RAW though that bothers me. It was Jerry ‘The King’ Lawlers birthday so why did he lose to Flair? Now that makes no sense to me. Does anyone know a good reason for this? No? See, I didn’t think so. I realize that it might be (As Bubba pointed out) Lawler’s way for a storyline. But you know, they could have done it the other way. Flair could have just oh I dunno had a cow because he lost to the King. Sigh. Okay rant two has been taken care of.

Moving right along….

Any bets on when Batista leaves Evilution? Oh come on, you know you want to wager this with me don’t you? We all know he’s going. But when?

Well, I’m telling you that as much as I love Hunter, Batista is just too good to play second to him. Besides, it’s time.

Yet, I must say (And here I go bringing up what I brought up in the beginning again) that this might just turn out quite well if Batista stays for a little while longer causing a feud like no other feud. Or at least a better one than what’s been going on in wrestling.

Last rant. No really. Why was Heyman let go from writing? Could it be that the fans were actually beginning to like wrestling again and Vince didn’t want that? No, I suspect it’s because of what I heard which is that Heyman is hated by Hunter. Hmmm. I wonder why?

Maybe Hunter didn’t think he was getting enough camera time. I don’t know. What I do know is that a lot of people enjoyed wrestling the past few weeks a lot more when Heyman was writing.

In any event, Monday night’s RAW was okay but as I said, only because Trish lost, Fozzy played, Jericho ruled and Hunter did NOT get the belt.

Wrestling in my View is nothing like it used to be. Nothing at all. What a shame.

Now the last Question of the Week that I posted was: What do you think of all the people that were let go? Did anyone you like go? Would you have liked someone else to have gone instead? Write me and let me know. Here are some answers.

Dogg wrote:
Ok. I was stunned at them letting Rico go. I mean, come on. You bring back fucking King Mable and dump Rico?

Test is suprising simply because of Stacy. I hear tell that many were upset over ATrain being canned. Well there is no accounting for taste.

My good friend the Pig is singing the blues over Jazz being sacked, and while I don’t agree with him on her asteticle looks, one can’t deny that she probably had the most talent of any of the lady wrestlers.

For my pick tho, and the King King of Stupidy award, and yes, I keep going back to this, how in the fuck do you fire Raven? How does that work? What part of bizarro world did this occur at?

Charity wrote:
The majority of the firings SUCK. End of story. LMAO

Kenny wrote this: I think the people that left needed to go. The roster is overcrowded as it is. I don’t really like any of the ones who were let go. I especially hate Rico.

As far as Raven, I’m happy for him. He’s making twice the money on the indy circuit (where he is the top draw in the country) as he did for WWE which is a fucking horrible place to work for anyway.

As far as people I’d like to see go, Paul Heyman, that piece of fucking shit (your check’s in the mail!), Bashams, Le Resistance, all their shitty goof announcers, the rest of their announcing team (except Maria), and Bischoff.

Ginger wrote this: Well, anyone who’s known me for any length of time should know that I was most upset about Chuck Palumbo being let go. It’s not really surprising, since they couldn’t seem to figure out what to do with him, but upsetting, nonetheless. I’m also unhappy about Rico, Nidia and Johnny Stamboli being axed. More than anything, I’m *surprised* that Billy Gunn, Gail Kim, Jazz and Test were fired. I mean, Billy was a WWE elder, Gail was hyped to high Heaven as the “Female Rey Mysterio,” Jazz was a legitimately talented and believable woman wrestler and Test. . .well, isn’t he still Stacy Keibler’s boyfriend? Seems to me Vinny should be doing his best to keep “Legs” satisfied, considering that she’s the hottest thing going with the Male WWE fans.

I’ve been shocked and saddened by lots of the people Vince McMahon has chosen to release in the past, but this mass firing was kind of hard to take. . .so hard that I was actually bothered even over the wrestlers I personally don’t care for. And ESPECIALLY because there are so many people still on the roster – and others being brought in – that I don’t think deserve a job any more than the folks who were let go.

Well, I’m a bit miffed by all the people that were let go and a LOT miffed at some that actually got to stay. Ginger also gave a list of whom she would have liked to see go instead. And that got me to thinking Who would I have let go? So, my Question of the Week this time around is GIVE ME TEN PEOPLE YOU WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HAVE SEEN FIRED? If they’ve already been let go then please, write me and tell me. If some stayed and some left tell me that. But only give me ten. So there you have it. My View. Oh Yes, I think I said I was going to put someone’s View up and here it is.

Bruce gave me an awesome email about last week’s RAW. Here’s what he wrote:

Annie, So I watched Raw last night. I really enjoyed the Battle Royal…but come on!Edge and Benoit? Neither are charismatic enough to head the company. I would’ve liked it if Bautista would’ve won.At least that would have been a match worth watching. But if you think like me…Eugene would have won,by a fluke.Like Bautista trying to nail him with a lariat, missing and falling out of the ring. But noooo….

Speaking of Eugene…if he’s that good, why are they trying to convince us he has Downs Syndrome? He was wonderful in that tag match. He imitates peoples’ moves really well! The People’s Elbow,he gets hit and “Hulks up”,then he hit a Stunner! That Stunner was as good as any that Austin ever delivered! His won-loss record is pretty good too.Outside of getting destroyed by guys twice his size,he’s won some big matches. He reminds me a lot of Norman The Lunatic.

It was cool that Flair broke character just for a second and laughed at Lawler doing his Nature Boy strut. The match was good they were using the old NWA signaling technique.(Slapping to signal the next move.)So Flair won. They both put on one helluva show!I was right old guy vs old guy:cool!Flair or Lawler competeing with any of the other guys:not believeable…

Bruce, Thanks for telling me about Lawler. I still think he should have won what with it being his birthday and all.

Well, there you go. My View and Bruce’s too. Until next time be good or be like me, really good doing it.
