Annie’s View (June 27th)

Sunday, June 27th, 2004

Hello ViewersWell, here I am finally. I’m so jazzed. You see, I spent $250.00 dollars at Victoria’s Secret. I ordered all kinds of goodies. But I ordered three pair of Yoga pants for the gym and guess what? THEY WERE TOO BIG. I’m so excited. So now I’m waiting to see if this time they fit.

Shills. Well, I have got to do that this week. Theringpost.com is a great place to find just about everything you want. But you’ll find a Low Blow by my friend, Barbwire Mike who simply makes me laugh. Oh and while I’m plugging him (STOP IT) if you go to Lethal Weapon.com you’ll find him there being well, lets just say a bit different and I have to tell you his latest post done in Cat In The Hat style was hilarious.

Then of course there is Kelly’s newsletter. Who wouldn’t want Kelly in their mailbox? Girls girls girls. All women all the time. That sounds like an add for porn but it’s not. Go right here and send an email in Kelly’s direction amazon_wrestling_views-subscribe@topica.com You’ll find the Amazon newsletter in your mail sooner than you think.

Now I guess I should get onto the wrestling.

Last week on RAW, we saw how HBK was beaten up by Kane. I have got to say that I thought they way they worked Shawn out of being on the show for a while was pretty good actually. It looked as real as wrestling can get. Kane did a good job at being a big meanie (Not to be confused with the Blue Meanie) but still, I wonder if this means he’s finally getting a push? I doubt it though. I will say this though. For someone that’s a mid-carder he is used quite a bit. The mask should have stayed on though.

Raise your hand if you didn’t know that Lita was pregnant with Kane’s baby and not Matts. Exactly. What do you think she’ll have? I’m hoping she gives birth to a mask.

What did you all think of Stevie Richard’s in drag? I loved it but then you have to remember I live near Hollywood.

The Rock showing up actually surprised me. I didn’t think for one minute he’d be there. Usually he only shows now when the WWE is in Hollywood. He’s still hilarious on the mic though. But his being thrown out of the building was even better. I loved what he said to Tyson about his being one of the Queer Eyed Guys. HAHAHA.

Did you love the spear Edge gave to Orton? Me too!

What’s with Regal getting creamed by the soon to be Daddy known as Kane? This was just stupid or as my Godson would say “That’s just wrong.’

The Diva search continues….Time for a diet coke and a low fat snack.

Now I don’t know about you Viewers, but I still love Hunter. Oh sure, he’s married and not to me. However, I just love the way he talks, walks and scowls. But you know, I have noticed that since he’s married now he’s put on a few pounds here and there. Doesn’t that figure? Some people think that once they’re married they can just let themselves go.

Edge and Jericho in one corner. Bastista and Orton in another! Finally eye candy for the girls.

I love Benoit as you know, but I truly love a guy that actually helps out another one getting the crap kicked out of him like Eugene was.

Smack Down. Well, I wonder who won the PPV? My internet connection went down Sunday so that’s why I wasn’t able to find out.

Oh, and I was I the only one that saw Sable’s nipple? Let me know. Hubby saw it to but did any of my Viewers?

I just know that Cena lost over the Undertaker on Thursday and Eddie and Bradshaw, well, good luck there. Speaking of Bradshaw, (Did you like that Segue?) Me too.

Last Week’s Question of the Week was SHOULD BRADSHAW BE FIRED? Boy did I receive some answers here. Good, bad and just plain nasty. So here they are

My good friend, PeterPorkr wrote this about the firing of Bradshaw from MSNBC: Okay, here’s what’s really happening. Vince convinced Bradshaw to do stupid storylines until he got fired from his news job so Vince could get the free publicity and stir up some interest in his dying company. The reality is, contrary to most of what’s being written on the Internet, the average wrestling fan (and American, for that fact) doesn’t give two shits that Bradshaw goose stepped or zig heiled. It’s all manufactured controversy by the WWE spin machine and from what I’ve read, I’m the only Internet wrestling super genius who sees it. The rest of the net is being played like a fiddle by Vince for all they’re worth.

PeterPorkr (MSNBC fell right into Vince’s trap by firing Bradshaw.)

Wolfcrane wrote this: It is an extreamly touchy subject. Lets ask this question….You you walk into a black neiborhood lets say and yell the “N” word or do some sort of KKK jesture. Then say just kidding, I am acting? Heck no. I think it was a stupid move considering the history there in Germany. There are many ways of getting a crowd riled up. but saluting a Nazi gesture?? come on. If it’s all a gimmick why hasn’t the WWE had a nazi wrestler? It’s one thing having someone like Nikolia Volkov or the Iron Sheik putting down America and having good old USA (Hogan) triumph in the end. But since 9/11 we havn’ t had any Arab characters putting down the USA. even Vince knows not to go near that one with a 10ft pole. Think of the bad press that would get and how many sponser would drop the WWE. No money, no buisness. JBL will still have a job with the WWE but on NBC…. that’s long gone

Rick Who actually wrote for WCW had this to say: Let me put this in a non PC way that everyone can understand. HELL NO………BRADSHAW should not be fired…..he was following orders……….should everyone be fired for doing what they are told?……….even if it is extreme……the answer is no!

Ohionevets wrote: Absolutely not! You are correct about the politically correct being way out of hand. While what Bradshaw said was wrong, and more than likely should not have been said, it was, what you said it was, part of his gimmick. It was no better, nor worse, than what he was saying about Eddie Guerrero and his family. The only difference was, where he said what he said.

Sgt Wesker had this to say:Do I think he should be fired?!…For having little or no talent, Yes…For what he did in Germany, No…Should he have done it?!…No…Was it wrong?!… Yes…But still…People do things in the spur of the moment… without thionking…That was one of them…after all he is the “Bad Guy”…shouldn’t bad guys act Uh…”Bad”?!…Ha Ha…

Another Viewer that I simply call Jen wrote this: Annie- I’m still pissed that NBC fired Bradshaw. Or fox. Whatever news station he was on. If the WWE fires Bradshaw, I will no longer watch the show.

Trevor wrote : I’m glad you wrote this column Annie, and I’m glad that you are taking some of the blame off of Bradshaw. Here are some interesting facts you might want to know. The company’s official position right now is that no one scripted the comment for Bradshaw and that he said it on his own volition. Probably the case, but its an environment that WWE unconditionally supports (well I guess its conditioned now for marching in Germany.) The main agent in charge on the tour was Dean Malenko, who is Jewish. Vince McMahon, who didn’t go on the tour, was said to have been very sympathetic with Bradshaw but he was told not to do it again. If this company was mine, I would have punished Bradshaw for his lack of judgment, but at the same rate I wouldn’t have scripted the tons of other insulting infractions that have been made otherwise. There is a point to let heels be heels and another point where that goes overboard. Free speech? Sure, but WWE targets children agressively (in America and overseas, where the crowds have a good amount of children and adolescents) and should thus be a family-friendly product, even a risque one at that, but essentially family-friendly.

One would think that with a multi-million dollar organization, discussions like this wouldn’t be taking place. But no, this is pro wrestling, God forbid something be done with class or decency.

Andrew wrote this: Should Bradshaw be fired? No. That doesn’t make him any bit less a moron? Absolutely not. He claims to have been just trying to get some heel heat, but to do such a stupid thing makes me wonder if he was punched in the head once too often. He shouldn’t be fired just because he did something stupid, because chances are most of the roster would have been fired at some time or another. He should be suspended, however, just so Vince can save some face. Then his main event push should be quashed (which actually saddens me..I’m no fan of Bradshaw, especially his wrestling skills, but he is making a great heel right now.) When he does come back, he should be made to publically apologize on SD, in a totally real, non-gimmick fashion. And maybe a month of jobbing to Funaki, or Shannon Moore.

This is from my good friend, Bobo I loved his View. Hello, my intended…

On the subject of your latest QotW, regarding ‘Whether Bradshaw Should Be Fired’, I decided to pipe in because I haven’t responded to your Questions in some time (Shame on Bobo) and thought this would be a good one to start back with… First, I’m not sure whether your question infers that Bradshaw should be fired altogether, or from the CNBC/WWe, but I’ll go ahead and give the short answer: ‘No’. Why? That’s the long answer… Heh.

Bradshaw’s shown time and again that he’s willing to do whatever he’s told, no matter how stupid or damaging to his ‘drawing power’ it might be. Vince NEVERS fires people like that, which is evidenced by Sgt. Slaughter still hanging around. You may remember how back during the first Gulf War, Sgt.Slaughter was told to ‘turn traitor’ and be an Iraqi Sympathizer, and despite how obviously that could ravage his ‘mom and apple pie’ deal, he still did it. He also still works there, even having the occasional match here and there to put over the new kids – such as Orton.

When you consider it, Bradshaw unquestionably fits that same ‘whatever-you-say-sir’ stripe. For crying out loud, the guy fought the EASTER BUNNY. Why would someone subject themselve to such ludicrous hazing? Simple, really… To be a Superstar. This precedent is already in place, let’s not forget… Remember the ‘MSG Incident’ where the Kliq ‘broke kayfabe’ and wished each other a bon voyage? Vince was pretty pissed, as I recall, and since Hall and Nash were gone and HBK was the champ, the only person he could punish was HHH… And he did. A lot.

No matter how stupid a match, HHH did it. “You want me to roll around in mud and hogslop with the Godwinns? Sure. You want me to be held to the mat by Ultimate Warrior’s scrotum at Wrestlemania? No problem.” Once HBK had that ‘back injury’ that put him on the shelf cashing checks for eight years, someone had to front the lucrative D-X stable, and that person was HHH. See, Vince eventually gets tired of feeding you shit, and if you’re still there o nce he does he’ll ‘reward’ you for ‘being a sport about it’. Look around the place… Tazz was jobbed out to Lawler until his ‘Thug Life’ deal was irreparably ruined, and yet now he’s doing Lawler’s job on the ‘other brand’. HHH is the ‘top guy’ in the company. Spike Dudley and Shane Helms still have jobs, as does Rosey – who was a bit more willing to be ‘repackaged’ after 3MW went nowhere than his fellow Samoan. Bottom line, if you can eat all the shit Vince feeds you and still ask for more, he’ll give you good things – such as job security, or his daughter. Bradshaw can’t help but notice this, and while VKM has already married off his daughter, there’s still Shane right?

So that covers ‘should he be fired from WWe’, which leads us to ‘should he have been fired from CNBC’. The short answer: ‘Yes’. Why?

Bradshaw was hired on as a stock market analyst. The job of a stock market analyst is to help guide you to a place wherein your money ‘works for you’. Their hiring of Bradshaw for this purpose is totally ludicrous when you consider that he purchased WWe stock in the $30-35 range, held onto it as it fell to the high $7, low $8 range, and then started proudly crowing ‘told you so’ when it rose to $9. Someone that so obviously squandered their own money isn’t someone anybody should be willing to let ‘do the same’ for them. This gaping hole in credibility is further eroded by the fact that CNBC was asking you to take financial advice from someone that WAS WORKING TWO JOBS. I don’t know about anyone else, but if I was looking for financial advice, I’d be asking someone sipping unbrella drinks on the beach of Barbados – not someone ‘on the road 310 nights a year’. I know wrestling fans are supposed to be stupid, but SWEET CHIN JESUS there’s got to be a limit!

Was I offended that he resorted to the Sieg Heil to get over as a heel in Germany? No. He’s already known to be a dumbass Texas shitkicker that’ll do anything to make you notice him, so him doing dumbass things to make you motice him is neither surprising nor offensive. I wondered why Germany didn’t put him through his paces regarding the illegal gesture, but I figure that they simply understood that he was a dumbass that didn’t know any better and let him off with a warning. Should they ever go back to Germany and he does it again, I’m sure they’ll throw ‘Mein Kampf’ at him. Sure, it’s unfortunate that this little ‘misunderstanding’ cost the guy the job he had at CNBC, but I feel that it was inevitable once the novelty wore off or the HR department at CNBC sobered up…

There you go, Annie… The answers to your question according to Bobo Quite Fiendish, Esquire.

You’re welcome. See you SOON.

Usually I save the best for last. Not this time. This time I saved the butt chewing from SamJerry who wrote this:A gimmick?” When you bring up memories of a regime that murdered 10 million innocent people and brought about a World War, it’s not a gimmick … as well as illegal in Germany. It’s wrong and there is no way to sugar coat it. If you lost a loved in WW II, I suspect you would feel different.

As I wrote to others with views similar to yours:

You couldn’t be more wrong if you tried.

Attempting to “get over” or push an upcoming match is no excuse for doing what Mayfield did. Claiming he didn’t know he was breaking the law is a cop out. He crossed the line by bringing up memories of the Nazi regime, which was responsible for the deaths of millions of people. His actions are utterly reprehensible.

CNBC terminated their association with him; an action that is entirely justified. Hopefully The WWE will take a similar course, or face the risk of losing some very disgusted fans. Using the Nazi goose step raises the specter of the hatred and death caused by them. Anyone who lost a family member in WWII, or one of the Nazi death camps can never forgive such actions.

You also belong to the group that blames VKM for every evil in the world. Making statements that VKM put him up to it are not responsible and could even be considered libel. You don’t know anymore than anyone else, so to say it as strongly as you did is wrong.

I want to thank everyone for their answers. I really love the feedback. This column on Bradshaw wasn’t easy for me to write. I didn’t like what he did in Germany but I do feel that as a wrestler, most everyone that went to that show should have realized that he was trying for heat. I have since heard now that last week’s Smack Down speech that came from Bradshaw was written by Vince. If that’s true then good for Vince. If someone does what you want them to, like tick off a crowd, then even in times of trouble you should at least, back them up. Was Bradshaw wrong? Yes. Will he do it again? I don’t think so.

Am I going to apologize for my View on Bradshaw? No. Those were my thoughts and Views just as the above words are yours. But keep those Views coming because I love hearing from you.

QOTW WHAT DO YOU THINK OF TNA??

That’s it for another View. Until next time be good, or be like me, really good doin it.
