Annie’s View (May 23rd)

Sunday, May 23rd, 2004

Hello Viewers. I know, I took some time off and I didn’t even post a PPV prediction. Well, that’s mostly because with Survivor, the end of both Friends AND Frasier being on the same night as Smack Down, I just couldn’t watch everything. I’m hoping to rectify this soon as in, this Thursday. How have all my Viewers been? A lot of you have been writing me which I so appreciate and I’m getting to each post as fast as I can. So please, bare with me.

Also, I have been going to the gym as you know and have just been having a great time.

All right, you guys want to know about wrestling and this is a wrestling column. So here we go.

First of all, did you hear (Which I’m sure you did, that Lawler’s Son, Brian was once again, fired from WWE. Well, he finally gets cleaned up and gets to actually come back and this happens. Some say it’s because he was being a prima donna in the locker room along with being tardy.

I for one, will thoroughly miss him as I think he’s a great talent in the ring much like his Dad, Jerry is and, in my View, Brian had potential to become another very well groomed superstar for the WWE.

So, I thought that I’d write about the wrestlers that I think can and will be huge IF (And that’s a big if) the WWE will allow them to be.

John Cena: I know he’s already getting his push and to that I say Thank Goodness. I think that Cena is a huge talent. While many don’t like the rap that he does, and some have even said he’s really not that talented in the ring. I, for one, have seen him in the ring up close (Second row) and while he was still affiliated at the time with the WWE, he wasn’t in one of their rings but rather, with UPW and his old tag team buddy, Frankie Kazarian. Both men put on a match that lasted forty-five minutes long and were phenomenal. I keep expecting Kazarian to be signed by the WWE. I really do.

Kidman. Why isn’t he being showcased? Is it me? Am I the only one that really enjoys his matches? Write me and tell me as I want to know. I just think he’s a huge talent that’s being well hidden in the WWE.

He was even showcased more in the WCW in Raven’s Flock than he is here. Okay, I realize that I don’t always see Smack Down and I do miss some of the shows during the weekend. But my point is he’s too good to be on THOSE shows. He should be a constant on either Smack Down or RAW. But that’s my View and again, I’m asking for yours.

Paul London I know he was just on Heat but you know, this guy has talent. Or at least I think so. I’m waiting for him to grace either SD or RAW. But the question really is when? I just think it would be great if he’d get his push.

Johnny Nitro. In one word. WOW. I know, that’s just his looks. Let’s get him in that ring and see what the Tough Enough winner can really do. Oh sure, he’s been there. But not long and not often enough. If your going to win something like TE then why not showcase the reason that Vince hired this guy in the first place. Unless, it’s strictly for his looks. In that case, I’m for it.

Paul Dupree I know. Your shocked because he’s one of the French guys. But actually he’s very talented. It looks like he’s getting somewhat of a push too. I’ll admit I’ve not been watching Smack Down as I should (Note: Fear not Cena, your still the best).

I will always hope that Cena wins over anyone but he sure didn’t Thursday night. However, both Cena and Renee looked great and did a good job in the ring. Kudos to both wrestlers.

Shelton Benjamin I know he’s already getting a push. But I wanted to include him anyway. He’s just got so much talent and finally he’s being recognized.

Rhyno I’ll make this short and sweet but a rant nonetheless. I love this guy. He needs a push. Well, okay, you may or may not agree with me here but I just think Rhyno should do more than just well, job all the time. I love his wrestling style and is it me or do all the ECW guys seem to get screwed? Well, the Dudley’s have their day in the Sun I realize that and RVD WAS getting that. But now, I just feel that it’s Rhyno who should wrestle more often and remind us all why we loved and STILL miss ECW.

Those are my choices for now at least.

I just think taking his mask away stripped him of the evilness that Undertaker can still create. But that’s my View. Please send me yours.

Now onto RAW. What is with Kane and Lita? Did he ask her to marry him? Wow, that would be interesting wouldn’t it? Maybe not. I did love how she stepped in so that Matt wouldn’t get hurt by Kane.

Eugene. I love him. He just cracks me up. Hey we need some comic relief and Eugene seems to be just that. Coupled with the Rock it made for some pretty funny stuff when Rock showed. Eugene is just having the time of his life and when he reminds us (Well, me at least) of Tito Santano or anyone else he screams out while applying a move on Regal, who couldn’t love the guy? He’s supposed to be living out his fantasy and to top it all off, he’s also supposed to be related to Eric. That alone makes me laugh.

Who didn’t like the twenty man in the ring? They’re were twenty yes? Anyway, however many were there, I loved it. Okay, Kane won. Thanks to bad boy HBK. Hmmm, Well, anything to screw over a friend right? I’m so glad he’s found Jesus.

Anyway, I just love a lot of men fighting. I don’t know why. Okay, I do. But still. Any other girls out there like me? If so, write me. I am hoping I’m not the only one. I just thought this was well, good. Maybe not great but then again, it WAS wrestling and we all know how I feel about wrestling in my wrestling show.

Anyway, I really wanted to tell you all I am still alive and write me so that I know you are too. Okay, last week’s QOTW was WHAT DO YOU THINK OF AUSTIN’S LEAVING?

Lot’s of answers out there but I only chose a few. And here they are

A Viewer I’ll just call Wolf wrote this: Austin being gone is a good thing. Lets face it he can no longer wrestle like he once did , he wasn’t able to back up his actions in the ring due to injuries but yet he was one of the greats. He still does have star power getting the crowd to go wild but I think his light was dimming, better to leave while your still near the top. Hogan didn’t know when to leave hopefully Austin does.

Another Viewer, Walsh wrote this: I don’t miss Austin as much… but then we didn’t miss the Rock, Shawn, Bret, Hogan, need I go on Annie? We will only miss them for as long as someone better is brought into replace him, nobody is that irreplaceable in this day and age. besides his act was wearing a little thinPeterPorkr wrote : Hell yeah!!!!

PeterPorkr (I blame Vince)

Andrew wrote : It’s hard to say…I mean, his work is great on the mic, but putting him over as a face doesn’t work for me. I LOVED the heel Austin. Sure, the fans don’t buy it, but who really cares? I love a good heel, and will cheer them BECAUSE I hate them. As a heel yes…as a face “sheriff”…not in the least. The whole Authority figure could have made a great heel, but they went with the face who always made the fan favorite decision. Austin got over as a guy who hated everybody, he didn’t care, or trust anybody. If he comes back like that, I’ll welcome him with open arms, but as a t-shirt selling face, he can stay away for all I’m concerned. His career wrestling is over, which means he needs to get over as a personality. And if we want to hold on to the SCSA gimmick, I think a throwback to the DTA days is in order, because the face angle is dumb as hell. He comes back, starts acting like a heel, and Bischoff loves it. Then have him go over Bischoffs head on things, but still acting the heel. Bischoff can demand Austin respect his “author-it-ah” (Cartman style), and Austin can tease a face turn, only to turn on the face, AND the heel. But, if I could have one person come back, it’s Raven to Raw (never happen), and Brock to Smackdown. I miss Brock, more so than Austin. And if the WWE ever needed a Brock Lesnar any time, it’s now. Smackdown is hurting…badly. And Raven setting up a Flock to battle Evolution would be sweet.

A5300 I do miss austin several reasons first – he carried the company and has great mike skills second – he’s sort of a link to the older generation of wrestlers who are still active third – he played a heel and a face equally well

Trevor wrote this: How could I? RAW’s been so great without him. SmackDown could use him desperately though. In the end, I definately think there’s a place in the company for Austin and that Vince should welcome him back with open arms.

Ohionevets wrote this simple phrase which, I thought summed it up. :I miss entertaining wrestling shows, so when he was being entertaining, yes.

Phil writes this :No I don’t miss Austin and, more to the point niether does Raw. I mean, don’t get me wrong, Stonecold Austin is the man. Forget Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Bruno Sanmartino etc, Stone cold is the biggest and most important guy in the history of WWE, I love the guy but, I don’t think it’s all that big of a loss to WWE that they couldn’t keep hold of him. He’s always fun to watch and brings allot to WWE but it’s all stuff we’ve seen hundreds of times before. It’s a shame Stoney is no longer associated with the company but, what with Benoit, HBK, Shelton ebnjamin, HHH and evolution ripping up raw the way they are at the moment, it really looks like WWE doesn’t need Stone Cold all that much. I’m sure Stoney will come back though, Steve is a big star and deep down I think he’ll only be happy on the big stage so, don’t worry, I’m sure we’ll see The Rattlesnake in a WWE again

alrighty, there you go ayn,

Kim wrote :Yes and no. No cause he never seems to stay around very long anymore, but yes, cause he’s very witty and clever and can really make me laugh at how stupid he can make other people laugh!!

DK wrote this : I don’t miss Austin one bit, to answer your View question. The WWE is better without him. He’s a heat sink – all the heat goes to this guy who doesn’t wrestle anymore, at the expense of all the people who NEED the heat. Without Austin, the other wrestlers will have a chance to shine.

Kelly wrote :D o I miss Austin? Nope, he was 1 of the most overrated personalities in the history of professional wrestling. The wife/girlfriend abuser should have his drunken ass behind bars anyway. It is a crime that he is still among the population. The fans don’t seem to miss him either. To me that speaks volumes about the “man,” and I use that term very lightly.

Sanddreamr wrote this:I miss his presense … His intensity … He wasn’t wrestling but he still brought that same intensity to the ring with him every time You never knew what he was going to do and who he was going to do it to … At any given moment Austin could exploded … No matter what the “net” would say Austin still got the biggest and the loudest pop on the show…

Jeff wrote my favorite answer so it’s last : No. I’m happy for him. He got out while he could. Run Austin Run!

There you go. Another View. Finally. Okay, the new QOTW is

Who do you think should be getting a push that isn’t??

Until next time Viewers, be good or be like Annie, really good doing it.
