Annie’s View (April 20th)

Tuesday, April 20th, 2004

Hello Viewers. How was the PPV? I was all set to write a prediction on this and then I heard that Stone Cold and Vince couldn’t come to any type of deal so they let him go. Well, it was mutual but he’s gone from the company….for now.Word is that Steve Williams or as well all know and love him by SCSA, wanted all the rights to his name. Gee, ya think?

Of course he would. That name made HIM A name in wrestling like, The Rock, Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan all made money from theirs.

Now of the three wrestlers that I named above. Who got to take their name with them? That’s right Bret Hart and Hogan. Hogan I believe came in the WWE with this name while Bret’s was in fact, his real name.

The Rock would love to have his name as well but I don’t see Vince giving it up any time soon if ever and frankly, can you blame the man? However, since he’s still working with the WWE in his new moving, Walking Tall, his name is simply the Rock in the credits. No Dwayne Johnson there. Pure Rock. Then again, perhaps because the Rock left on good terms he did get to keep his name.

Also, WWE Films were part of the credits. I know because I stayed to make sure and THAT might very well be why Rock was just that The Rock in billing. All I know is that if Rock got to keep his name and Austin didn’t, I might be able to see Austin’s View.

Sure Steve Austin came up with the name SCSA but it was done while he was under Vince’s contracts. Remember, Sable wanted her name too and so did Chyna and neither one got to keep them. Unless of course, they come back like Sable did.

That’s why it’s great when you have a name like Benoit, Jericho, Eddie G you see where I’m going. These men can go to any federation and work under their name. People like Edge, Test, and Stone Cold can’t. At least I don’t think they brought these names with them.

I believe that Austin would do well just about anywhere but no matter where he goes, no matter which federation he belongs to, he will always be Stone Cold Steve Austin. They’re will always be the What chants and the signs that say Austin 3:16. Even if he’s in TNA.

It’s really a shame in a way that you can’t really take your name with you. It would be ideal but this is a business and Vince is a smart businessman and he’s not going to cut off his nose to spite his face. (Even if some of you want that.)

My Son will miss the antics of Austin and I haven’t told him yet that Austin is gone. However, he lost most of his interest in wrestling the day Stone Cold was severely injured and then came back but couldn’t really wrestle.

For the Austin fans out there and I know they’re are plenty of you myself included. At least the door has been left open for Austin to return should he feel that he wants to. That alone is something. I will miss his going back on forth one-upping Bischoff.

Who’ll take his place or even IF someone will, time will only tell. One thing is for sure, there will always be only one Stone Cold. And his name is Steve Austin err Williams.

Last week I received this letter in my mail from Wolf which was: It is actually nice to see wrestling on RAW. Don’t get me wrong you need a story line to get the interest but the lead ups to the matches made it disappointing many times. To much talk. I’d like the new WWE motto to be “Shut up and Wrestle.”

Also, this came from Andrew : Hey there Annie! Sure, I may never call, buy you flowers, or take you out anymore, but you can’t say I don’t write! :) I am loving what the WWE is doing these days….with RAW. It’s funny how things have changed. It used to be that “the show to watch” for me was SmackDown. But lately, I find it’s really gone downhill, and it’s just not catching my interest the way it used to. You have to know the show is in trouble when Bradshaw and Booker T are your main heels…in a wrestling capacity at least. Yikes. I love Eddie and Cena, but without a decent heel to fight…what’s the point? RAW however has been amazing lately. The focus has really been more on actual wrestling lately, and pushing the wrestlers, Benoit (the sexiest man in wrestling…snicker) and Benjamin being the best examples. HHH has had some amazing matches lately, and it’s more because he’s putting people over again, instead of just losing via screwjobs, etc… It actually shows how good a worker he can be when he wants to. It’s what brought him to the table. Let’s hope it’ll stay that way…not necessarily him jobbing all the time, but the high work ethic. As an aside…for your Annie’s PPView Predictions…Orton vs. Foley hardcore match. It’s VERY noticeable how they keep mentioning two things: 1) Falls count anywhere and 2) Evolution is banned from RINGSIDE. Expect a screwjob in the back, where Evolution can interfere, because there’s no “They can’t interfere in the match” clause.

Cheers, Annie!

There you go, That’s my View and a couple of yours. Please, remember this is not only my View but yours. I am going to start incorporating more Views like this along with the Question of the Week.

I think Andrew brought up a good point of View. So the Question of the Week is : Do YOU THINK SMACK DOWN IS STARTING TO LOSE IT’S LUSTER?

Until next time be good or be like me, really good doing it.
